Institutes Online Library

What is the Online Library?

The Online Library is an electronic library containing the textbooks published by the American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America. The publications in the library are drawn from the curriculum of Institutes' programs. The library also contains public policy holdings developed by the Insurance Research Council (IRC).

The Online Library serves as an on-the-job reference tool for insurance personnel, risk managers of insurance and noninsurance organizations, and others in need of risk management and insurance information. The library also serves as a research tool for academics and students in risk management and insurance and related fields of study. As the offerings of the Institutes expand, subscribers to the Online Library will have immediate access to them.

How do I access the Online Library?

The Online Library is a subscription-based service (see below for subscription pricing). To use this service, you must have an individual customer account with the Institutes and your company must purchase a subscription. Once you have a login identification number and PIN, you can access the Online Library through the Institutes' Web site by using the above button, or you can log in to the Online Library directly at http://library.aicpcu.org.

How do I use the Online Library?

To view publications in the database once you have subscribed, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 installed on your computer. You can download Acrobat Reader for free from the Adobe Web site at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.

The Online Library offers the search and "drill-down" capabilities of an internet site, using logic that most individuals are familiar with. There is, however, an "Online Library Help" document offered within the library itself or by clicking here (Acrobat Reader required). This document will guide you on how to locate specific topics, search for key words, and view publications. The "Online Library Help" document can be viewed on screen or printed for handy reference.

The annual license fee is $499 with $2 daily access fee per person.
