INSTITUTES ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES

The Institutes recently announced the launch of a series of new online professional development courses designed to help you stay on top of critical topical issues in our industry. The Professional Development Series (PDS) will provide you with up-to-the-minute information on trends and developments in today’s complex property-casualty insurance marketplace.

PDS readings are the ideal way for designation holders and others to refresh their study and stay current on important industry topics. Readings are clustered by topic, allowing users to quickly find readings of particular interest and relevance. For all professionals, the PDS is a resource that balances learning and professional development with current work objectives and time demands. All PDS course materials and optional examinations are online.

The first two courses in the series are Reinsurance and Risk Management.

  • Reinsurance topics include Solvency II, side cars, cat modeling, alternative risk transfer, cat bonds, and natural catastrophes.

  • Risk management topics include captives, enterprise risk management, catastrophes/ securitization, intellectual property, crisis management, and emerging liability issues.

A preview demo is available.

For additional information, or to register, contact the Customer Service Department. Read the full PDS press release.

FEEDBACK AVAILABLE FOR NON-PASSING GRADES ON WEB SITE

Feedback, centered on educational objectives, is available for students receiving a non-passing grade on Institute exams. A student must log on to our Web site. Click on exam(s) with non-passing grade(s) to view printable feedback.

The educational objective related to the incorrectly answered question is listed for each assignment that scored less than 70%.

Students preparing to retake exams are reminded not to restrict their study and final review to just the educational objectives missed. A review should include all of the course study materials, with an emphasis on the educational objectives listed in their grade analysis feedback. For questions about this service, contact Customer Service.

ATTENTION: CLAIMS PROFESSIONALS
If you are a recent AIC completer, or already have the AIC designation, plan to attend a 2007 AIC recognition lunch at one of the PLRB/LIRB’s regional conferences. At the lunches, recent AIC completers will be specially recognized, and all attendees will enjoy a presentation on a current topic in claims. Contact Jennifer Smith for more information.
