THE NEW ARM: IN-DEPTH, PRACTICAL RISK MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE
The Institutes are pleased to announce the newly revised Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation program. The new curriculum teaches risk management and insurance professionals practical and relevant skills designed to help them manage a variety of contemporary and complex risks at all levels of an organization.

The new ARM program teaches the in-depth knowledge needed to assess and respond to the hazard risks your company faces. ARM helps employees to

  • Build a strong foundation in the science of risk management
  • Gain practical skills to avoid, reduce, and manage risk
  • Learn to adapt those skills to meet changing needs

Richard J. Berthelsen, JD, CPCU, ARM, director of curriculum for the ARM designation, explains the benefit of the recent revisions. “We retained the original genius of the risk management process and design while updating the practical risk management applications,” Berthelsen said. “We address not only the loss exposures that risk management professionals face today, but the ones they are likely to face in the future.”

New textbooks and course guides (and SMART® Study Aids) for ARM 54—Risk Assessment and ARM 55—Risk Control have been released for exams starting in January 2006. The popular SMART Practice Exam CD-ROM is included with ARM 54 and 55 course guides.
