SM 18—Essentials of Supervision: Role of the Supervisor, Improving Communications and Meetings, Transition to Supervisor, Motivation, Leadership, Coaching, Understanding Others, Fair Employment Laws and Regulations.
SM 19—Supervisory Skills: Problem Solving, Functions of Management, Training, Automation, Work Management, Performance Appraisal, Problems and Opportunities, Time Management, Developing Teamwork.
Program Options: The SM program is available as self-study courses via printed textbooks and course guides.
Public classes at third-party providers may be available for SM courses.
We Recommend SM for: Agents/brokers, call center supervisors, customer service supervisors, line of business supervisors, and support and general office staff
Course Sequence: When pursuing this designation, it is best to take SM 18 before SM 19.
Exam Information: Supervisory Management course exams are offered as Exams-on-Request (EOR) and can be administered in two ways. You can take the multiple-choice exam:
By computer at an Institutes-approved on-site testing location or at a Prometric Testing Center during one of The Institutes´ four testing windows.
As a pen-and-paper exam at your workplace at any time.
SM exams consist of 60 objective questions, and examinees have two hours to complete each exam. Read more about EOR exams.
