After completing this course, you’ll be able to evaluate the motivational theories and performance standards used in your organization.

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Describe the motivation process.
  • Describe the challenges of motivating employees to practice risk control.
  • Explain how management styles might differ applying the McGregor Theory X and Theory Y approaches.
  • Describe the following theories of motivation:
    • Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
    • Skinner’s Operant Conditioning
    • Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory
  • Explain how to monitor the effectiveness of risk control measures by controlling the performance of employees.
  • Explain how changes in the following can require modification to risk control measures:
    • Loss exposures
    • Risk management priorities
    • Legal requirements
    • Relative cost versus benefits of risk management techniques
  • Given a case, illustrate the types of changes that the results of risk monitoring might require.
