Associate in Information Technology (AIT)

The Associate in Information Technology designation program provides you with the foundation you need to develop a holistic view of insurance industry functions and processes to increase the value of IT contributions. By completing this program you’ll be able to meet business challenges through strategic alignment of the IT function, collaboration and integration, project management, and outsourcing.

Earn the Associate in Information Technology designation by passing the required AIT course exams.

New! Ethics requirement. The Institutes believe ethical decision making skills are essential to the practice of insurance. Starting January 2011, all designation program participants must complete either Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals (for all programs except CPCU) or the CPCU program’s Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct. You can earn the Associate in Information Technology designation by passing the course exams below.

AIT 131—Essentials of Information Technology: Internet and the World Wide Web; Software; Hardware; Hardware: Input and Output; Communications, Networks, and Safeguards; Personal Technology; Databases and Information Systems; Challenges of the Digital Age; and Programming.

AIT 132—Insurance Uses of Technology: Technology and Insurance Information, Managing a System, Effect on Marketing/Basic Policy Processing, Needs Analysis, Technology in Underwriting and Claims, Information Security, Agency Management Systems, Internet Insurance Marketing, Internet Sales and Service in the Insurance Industry, Agency/Company Interface, and Industry Level Information Requirements.

AIT 134—The Strategic Management of Information: Creating Business Advantage With IT, Crafting Business Models, Building Networked Businesses, Making the Case for Networked Business, Understanding Internetworking Infrastructure, Assuring Reliable and Secure IT Services, Managing Diverse IT Infrastructures, Organizing and Leading the IT Function, Managing IT Outsourcing, A Portfolio Approach to IT, and Data Warehousing.

Program Options: The Associate in Information Technology course is available as a self-study program via printed textbooks and course guides.

Public classes at third-party providers may be available for AIT courses.

Exam Information: AIT 131, 132, and 134 exams are offered at Institute-approved on-site testing locations and Prometric Testing Centers. Contact your education coordinator for further information about on-site testing availability.

AIT exams consists of 85 objective questions and examinees have two hours to complete each exam.
