Insurance Fundamentals Series
Insurance Policy Fundamentals Course
Why you need this course:
All insurance policies contain a relatively standard physical structure. Knowing how to read and interpret an insurance policy is a fundamental skill for insurance professionals. This skill can be applied to a wide range of insurance policies. This course provides a structure for analyzing policies by examining possible physical constructions, common provisions, and exclusions. Methods for analyzing policies, pre- and post-loss, can be used to determine whether a policy would cover loss scenarios or actual losses that have occurred.
Upon successful completion of all four modules in this course, you should be able to:
- Explain how the physical construction of an insurance policy influences policy analysis.
- Describe the contents and purpose of the six common policy provisions of a property-casualty insurance policy.
- Explain the six reasons that policies contain exclusions.
- Differentiate between pre-loss and post-loss analysis.
Modules can be studied in any order you choose.
