Why you need this course:
Auto loss exposures exist for most organizations, and to meet insureds’ specific needs, insurance professionals need to know about the policy coverages and provisions that commercial auto insurance provides. This course examines commercial auto loss exposures and the three ISO coverage forms used to insure commercial auto loss exposures: the Business Auto Coverage Form, the Garage Coverage Form, and the Motor Carrier Coverage Form. The case study presented will help you determine the coverage available under each form.
Upon successful completion of all ten modules in this course, you should be able to:
- Describe the property, liability, and personal loss exposures that arise from the ownership, maintenance, and use of commercial autos.
- Describe the symbols and the symbol system used to activate coverage under the Business Auto Coverage Form.
- Describe what is covered and what is excluded by the liability and physical damage coverages of the Business Auto Coverage Form.
- Describe the conditions contained in the Business Auto Coverage Form.
- Describe the following coverages that may be added by endorsements to the Business Auto Coverage Form:
- Medical payments
- Personal injury protection and added personal injury protection
- Uninsured and underinsured motorists
- Explain how the symbols used in the Garage Coverage Form differ from the symbols used in the Business Auto Coverage Form.
- Describe what is covered and what is excluded by each of the following coverages of the Garage Coverage Form:
- Liability
- Garagekeepers
- Physical damage
- Explain how the Motor Carrier Coverage Form differs from the Business Auto Coverage Form in each of the following ways:
- Covered autos
- Coverage for owner-operators
- Trailer interchange coverage
- Physical damage exclusion of trailer interchange
- Explain how the following are rated for commercial auto coverage:
- Private passenger vehicles
- Trucks, tractors, and trailers
- Explain whether, and for how much, the Business Auto Coverage Form and applicable endorsements would cover a described claim.
