Online Learning Demonstration
Please read the following information before accessing the demo class.
This demo is a sample of an actual Institutes Online Learning class. As a demo, all the features will not be available to you. You will be able to access and read all screens but not post any messages.
When you first log into the classroom, you will be at "My Blackboard." This is equivalent to arriving on campus. From there, you can enter the Demonstration Class, listed under "My Courses."
Once you are in the classroom, you will see that it is broken into several different areas. Click on each of the buttons on the left of the screen to see what they are. In the "Course Documents" area, look at the "Software Overview" lesson to learn how to navigate in the classroom. Here is an overview of the main classroom features:
- Announcements – This is where the instructor greets the class and gives out assignments. It is the best place to start when entering the classroom.
- Course Documents – This is where the "lecture" takes place. Go here to learn more about the topics covered in the textbook.
- Assignments - Here you can take a quiz or see what homework you are required to do.
- Communication – This is where students and the instructor can "talk." There is a discussion board that operates in a bulletin board format, allowing students and the instructor to communicate publicly with each other. There is also a real-time chat area. You will only be able to read messages in the demo class.
